Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha made her debut opposite Salman Khan in the film ‘Dabangg’. But did you know that before she entered films, she used to weigh 90 kgs?
That’s indeed true!
Alia Bhatt reads in newspaper: Police catch 80 kg heroine. Alia: Oh no, Sonakshi pakdi gayi!!
The above joke sums it all!
But then, probably, destiny had something else written for her. While studying fashion design, she realized that she needed to lose at least one-third of her weight, not just to look good but also to feel healthy.
A determined Sonakshi turned things around, and lost all that weight through a combination of cardio, swimming, tennis, hot yoga, and following a proper diet regime.
“It is important to condition your mind and be patient during the process,” Sonakshi Sinha.
Sinha is thankful to Salman Khan, who motivated her to lose those extra pounds. Sonakshi said she hated going to the gym initially.
Sonakshi, with the help of fitness guru Yasmin Karachiwala, and lots of determination and self-motivation, become thinner and lighter.
Sonakshi Sinha Shows Middle finger to her Weight Critics
Almost everybody enjoys taking potshots at Sonakshi Sinha, especially her weight. She was called a ‘fat cow’ on her birthday, and some even suggested that her forehead be declared a new state in India and compared it to an eight-inch highway.
All these while, Sonakshi took all these weight-related comments in her stride, but not any longer, She has decided to give it back. On a social site, she had no hesitation in showing her middle finger to her haters. Junior Sinha posted a photo of a skeleton on her Instagram account and wrote the following message as the caption:
To all those who keep commenting on my weight, whether it’s a full picture or a close-up where you can’t see jack. Take a good look at this picture. Now get this: 1) this aint ever gonna be me. 2) get over it. 3) i wish u could see which finger i hold up for shallow and idiotic people like yourself.
“I am here to act and not be size zero,” Sinha had said in an interview, in the initial stages of her career, and almost everybody had cheered for her, because almost everybody in Bollywood was taking the size-zero thing quite seriously.
Anil Ambani’s Weight Loss Transformation
Business tycoon Anil Ambani, who used to weigh 110 at one time, decided to lose weight after one of his investors said that he could not invest in a company, where the CEO did not pay attention to his health (how could he carry his company on his unhealthy shoulders).
Anil Ambani was 40 years, weighed an uncomfortable 110 kg and could barely walk a kilometre in an hour, let alone run. Like his father, his fitness, or rather lack of it, also had his shareholders worried.
Dhirubhai Ambani, the founder of Reliance Industries, told his younger son, Anil Ambani: “Look Son, you can buy any luxury you want in life – from clothes to food, from a home to a holiday – but you can never buy health. Do whatever it takes to make yourself feel good.”
Anil Ambani rose to the challenge, and his inspiration to run, came from the then American president, George Bush, who, despite being in his mid-50s, would run at least a few kilometres every day.
Today, Anil Ambani is among India’s fittest business tycoons, has lost one-third of his earlier weight, and is rightly known as the ‘Marathon Man’.
A committed marathoner, Anil Ambani runs at least a hundred kilometres a week. The man, who runs in cool running gear – black spandex track pants, fluorescent green shoes to go with fluorescent sunglasses and a black t-shirt with ‘running’ written across in fluorescent green – has grown leaner as he has aged.
Watch: Anil Ambani’s fitness trainer Rujutha Diwekar shares her experience working with Anil Ambani.
His fitness trainer, Rujutha Diwekar, said that Anil is disciplined, doesn’t smoke and is a teetotaler. While he doesn’t believe in dieting, Ambani is careful about what he eats. So, it’s honey instead of sugar, bajra or jawar roti instead of wheat. White products like milk are a strict ‘no’.
Adnan Sami
Here’s how the overweight singer, Adnan Sami, managed to lose so much weight.

Adnan Sami may not be a fitness guru but the way he has transformed himself from an overweight person to a lean and fit-looking person is highly commendable, something that most of his fans would be eager to achieve as well. There will surely be many who’d eagerly hear him out on the subject of ‘weight loss’.
Sami, born in London, once weighed more than 200 kgs, but managed to slim down a lot, with great dedication and helpful advice from his doctor. Adnan Sami knows that there are several factors such as genes, emotional issues and metabolism rates that have an impact on a person’s weight. But with the right guidance and dedication, it is possible to lose a substantial amount of weight.
Earlier when Adnan was really obese, he took the help of a nutritionist and a doctor to lose weight, but lacked the willpower to do the steps that were required of him. Later, when Adnan’s father threatened to walk out of his life unless he resolved to regain his health, Adnan moved to Houston and handed himself over to an experienced nutritionist.
It’s indeed an achievement that Adnan Sami managed to lose more than 125 Kgs.
“I did not undergo any weight-loss surgery. It was all thanks to a high-protein diet – no oil, no sugar, and well, lots of will power,” Adnan Sami.
Here’s what Adnan has to say about losing weight:
- Be ready to make lifestyle changes.
- You have to be a tortoise and stick to the path. Adnan says, “Remember: you are doing it for yourself”.
Adnan Sami’s unshakable willpower is indeed motivating, and one should choose a weight-loss plan that suits his/her own body type.

Anant Ambani is Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani & Nita Ambani’s youngest son, and he managed to lose 108 Kgs over a period of 18 months.
All those who are probably thinking that Anant did some sort of surgery to get rid of that excess baggage (probably because he’s a billionaire) need to appreciate his dedication. It was indeed a slow process, and now everybody can see that it was worth it.
Being obese and the son of Mukesh ambani, Anant was a soft target for everybody on the social media, with hundreds of jokes floating around his obesity.
The most popular tweet was this one from Sir Ravindra Jadeja @SirJadeja16h.

Parineeta Chopra
A strong determination to lose weight and be fit drove Parineeti to shed all those extra kilos. Besides taking up physical activities like jogging, yoga, horseback riding, swimming, and running, she also said goodbye to pizza, burgers and other junk food.

Losing weight was not easy for Parineeti, because she loved food. But, once she made up her mind, she underwent a rigorous workout regime and a strict diet plan to shed those extra pounds.
Even after doing a few films, when she had some time on her hand, she again underwent a rigorous workout program to further lose weight. Not many liked her new look, as they felt she looked way to thin.
Parineeti looks nowhere close to the bubbly girl that she was when she entered Bollywood. However, the actress makes it clear that she is not in any way endorsing the idea of being thin. Instead, she feels that her trim figure is all about endorsing fitness.
Parineeti says that she lost weight because she wanted to have better stamina and control over her body.
“I am a young woman and there is no reason for me to look fat. I want to look great. I am taking care of myself and I am losing even more weight because I want to look better. Besides, I am in a visual medium and should be able to compete with every good-looking actress.”
Contrary to what many feel, ‘Pari’ definitely didn’t go under the knife. The real secret behind her skinny appearance is a detox program in Austria, where no surgery is involved.
“Under this program, the patient has to undergo several tests in order to determine his/her body type. Depending on that, a diet chart for six months is drawn, which the clients have to strictly adhere to. Depending on the program, the 15 to 30 day course costs between Rs. ‘5-10 lakh'”
Arjun Kapoor
Before entering Bollywood, Arjun Kapoor was plump, overweight, and weighed 140 kilos (and he was just 22 years old). As a result, Arjun was asthmatic, sluggish, grumpy, and could not run continuously even for 10 seconds.
Because he was young, he was carefree and content with his life, and did not want to lose weight.
However things changed (after all he belongs to a filmi family), and he embarked on a weight loss journey.

Arjun Kapoor’s weight loss journey has been remarkable. With his dedication and hard work, Arjun turned around things and now has a sexy and toned body, with flat abs.
“When you stabilise with your core, you can do any amount of lifting you want,” Arjun Kapoor
Bhumi Pednekar
Bhumi Pednekar made a terrific transformation and lost almost 30kgs after her debut film Dum Laga ke Haisha.
Bhumi Pednekar was lauded for accepting a challenging role in her very first film, and she had gained those extra kilos for that role. “I used to consume 4000 calories a day to put extra weight for the film,” said Bhumi.
Post the movie, Bhumi got herself back in shape looking well-toned and quite fit.
“I simply went back to my normal routine and ghar ka khaana, to lose the extra kilos. Of course I chose low calorie food, going more for channa roti instaed of wheat flour and everything else cooked by my mother. Also, I adopted physical activity like walking and playing badminton.”
The actress was never shy about sharing her weight loss journey (probably because she knew she would lose it anyways, as she had gained it for a role) and would occasionally post weight loss tips on Instagram.
I start my mornings with a glass of warm or detox water and thirty minutes later, I eat muesli with skimmed milk and flax or sunflower seeds. Then comes the king-sized breakfast (an hour before gymming) of whole-wheat bread with 2 egg white omelets and a fruit (papaya or apple). I alternate between cardio and weights at the gym; it is rigorous so 5 boiled egg whites after that are a must. There is nothing healthier than kick-starting your day with a breakfast like this.
Lunch: Simple, home-cooked wholesome food that includes roti, sabzi and dal. I eat everything but a healthy version of it. So my rotis are not made of wheat but of bajra, jowar, nachni, soya, chana or rajgira and topped with a little white butter. You can mix all these grains together to make a power-packed multi grain roti or use them individually. My dal has tadka and the sabzi has oil but olive oil used in moderation. There is always a bowl of homemade dahi or a glass of chaas (with salt and some jeera) to go with the meal. On days where I’m out or in the mood for a different flavour, I opt for other healthy options like grilled chicken, brown bread vegetable and grilled chicken sandwich (I like using hummus/honey mustard, green chutney or just little olive oil if I want to grill it as a spread instead of butter or any other trans-fat spread), hummus with cucumber and carrots, nutri-nuggets or some home made chicken gravy cooked in very little oil with a bowl of brown rice. This meal would be anywhere between 400 to 500 calories and under 80 grams of carbs. I don’t starve, just eat healthy and work out.
Dinner: At around 4-4.30pm, I eat half a papaya or an apple / pear / guava. After an hour or so, I have a cup of green tea with few almonds or walnuts. Around 7:00pm, I have a big bowl of salad with all salad greens, maybe add an apple, and some walnuts or some dried berries if seasonal ones are unavailable – dressed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar or some olive chilli oil with garlic and mustard, or some apple cider vinegar. I try and make this fun, so at times I add grilled chicken or feta cheese. By 8.30pm, I have my dinner which is usually grilled fish or chicken (there are a lot of easy-to-make recipes available on the internet. Keep experimenting!). On days I want to eat a vegetarian meal, it is usually fresh, grilled or slightly pan cooked paneer / tofu, stir fried or steamed vegetables (seasoned as you like) with a small cup of brown rice or a thin multi-grain roti. I try eating as less carbs as possible at night.
My favourite healthy snacks for the times when the cravings get the better off me. It’s always good to avoid junk food and opt for these yummy but healthy options instead!
Berry smoothie – Pour a glass of water into the mixer and add 2 tablespoons of yogurt. Add one teaspoon of honey and fresh berries of all kinds into it. Blend them together and enjoy! Yoghurt cubes – You can pour a homemade smoothie into the ice cubes. Pour the strawberries shake into the ice tray and freeze it. You can make it a slushy and eat it up. The best cold snack ever! Other healthy alternatives are: Kale & Soya chips (I totally love them!), whole wheat lavash with hummus, or even dry roasted grains like puffed bajra. BTW, if you are really craving, you can have a piece of dark chocolate – the darker the better. Chocolate made with at least 70% cocoa contains less sugar and more antioxidants. It is okay to give in to your cravings once in a while, but do remember to stay wise and stay healthy!
