Not sure how much you should eat during a meal? Rujuta Diwekar has a suggestion (infographic)

Grand Baahubali Thali

We all know that in order to lose weight, we need to have control over our diet. But did you ever wonder, how much should you eat during a meal?

More often than not, we all end up eating more than what we actually require!

While that’s true, you should also not starve yourself in order to lose wight.

So what is the right amount of food that you should eat during your meal?

Celeb nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar has a solution, which she shared recently on social media. And she refers to it as the “Mental Meal Map” !

The fitness project 2018 – Week 8 guideline – How much to eat?

Use the mental meal map. Details here – https://t.co/3qia4z7Bo1#RDfitnessproject2018 pic.twitter.com/pIM8vgpX2J

Take a look at that info-graphic again. The eat slowly suggestion really works; it gives sufficient time for the abdomen to signal to the brain that its full (which doesn’t happen when you eat fast).

“A good life is where you are able to tell the difference between your need and greed — a life where you learn to enjoy food, fitness and health without feelings of guilt, remorse and frustration. But today we feel that we are fat because we eat too much or consume too many calories. The truth is that we live in ‘obesogenic environments’ – we have created situations and formed habits where it’s almost impossible for us to nurture our appetite and eat just the right amount,” says Rujuta Diwekar.

Here’s some additional tips that you should follow, besides following the Mental Meal Map:

  • If possible, eat at the same place, as often as possible
  • Avoid phones, TV or any gadget during meals
  • Sit down in Sukhasana (if possible) and eat with your hands
  • Drink a glass of water before your meal (for those who like to drink water with their meals)

Take a look at the Mental meal map again, it will also help you when eating out in restaurants and weddings.
