With the aim of expanding its presence in the fitness watch market, Casio recently launched the Baby-G BGA-240 fitness watch in India, thus expanding its Baby-G lineup in India.

The wearable is designed to cater to young India women, looking for a fitness fashion accessory.

Samsung fitness-centric smartwatches

Samsung Gear Sport is a fitness-centric smartwatch. The rotating bezel further allow users to easily change settings. It comes with a built-in heart rate monitor and water resistant down to depth of 50m.

Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro fitness tracker

The Gear Fit2 Pro, a GPS-enabled advanced fitness band, offers decent activity tracking, great functionality as a second screen for your smartphone and effective handling and display of notifications. It’s comfortable, good at its job and decently priced as well for what you’re getting.

Both Gear Sport and Gear Fit2 Pro are able to track your swims, walking, running, and cycling among others.

Fitness Trackers are still among the more popular wearable devices in India, despite the rising popularity of smart-watches.

iVoomi, a Chinese electronics manufacturer, has introduced a new fitness tracker — iVoomi FitMe in the Indian market.

A unique thing about this tracker is that it comes provides Air Quality Index (indicator of pollution levels) about your surrounding area, a feature that is not commonly available on all fitness trackers.

Apart from measuring your heart rate, the FitMe tracker is also capable of step tracking, distance covered (GPS), calories burnt, as well as sleep tracking. Once paired with the smartphone, the iVoomi FitMe can also display alerts and notifications related to calls, text messages, and social media updates.

The tracker is water and dust resistant, and shock and scratch resistant as well. The company claims that FitMe has a typical usage time of somewhere between 3 to 5 days.

The Charge 2 comes with features such as multi-sports tracking through which you can track various activities such as walking, weight training, treadmill running, cycling and interval workouts.

Xiaomi Mi band 2

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 offers the best value for money. Priced only a couple of thousand rupees, the Mi Band 2 comes with an OLED display, activity and sleep tracking functionality, smartphone notifications as well as a heart rate scanner. The display shows the time, heart rate, step count, etc.

The Mi Band 2 looks pretty basic, but is water/dust resistant and is geared towards heavy workout and gym sessions. The Mi Band 2 is controlled through Xiaomi’s Mi Fit App which is available on both iOS and Android.

Fitbit Flex 2

The Fitbit Flex 2 has a simplistic design, minus all those extra features, which you probably may not use at all. It is just a fitness tracker and nothing else. It records calories burnt, steps taken, hours slept and distance traveled. You can view this information through the Fitbit application on your smartphone, as the device does not come with a display.

The Flex 2 is perfect for those who just want a simple device that works well. Its available in a variety of colors and styles and also features interchangeable bands.

Garmin Vivofit 2

Garmin Vivofit 2 comes with activity and sleep tracking, calorie monitoring, as well as the ability to display the time (comes with a display).

While most fitness trackers need to be recharged once every week, the Vivofit 2 is powered by a regular coin-cell battery that allows it to be used for 1 year at a stretch. The Vivofit 2 does not offer any smart features.
