NASA study says that ‘rebounding’ on a trampoline is more effective than 30-minute of jogging.
Want to start exercising and boost your cardiovascular fitness? Then, running is not the only option.
A more interesting alternative is rebounding, or bouncing on a mini trampoline.
A study was conducted by NASA on participants, aged between 19 and 26.
They were made to run on a treadmill at four speeds, and were then made to jump on a trampoline at four different heights.
Their oxygen uptake, acceleration levels, and heart rate were monitored and compared.
The results revealed that jumping on trampoline is a better workout for the body, compared to running.
- Oxygen uptake was significantly higher during trampolining, than running.
- Rebounding on the trampoline provided a better workout to the joints and muscles work, without putting much pressure.
The only drawback to this research is that the sample size was small and the participants were only on men. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for an interesting cardio workout, that is also low impact, do consider trampolining.
