Skincare Tips for Women: In today’s competitive world, it pays to look well, and for that you have to make sure you take good care of your skin. This is even more important for those who work in the entertainment industry!

How Stress Affects Your Skin

Your skin texture and tone depends on both external as well as internal factors. Apart from the more commonly known facts, your skin also reflects how healthy your food is, and what care you take to protect it against pollution and environmental hazards.

One such not-so-familiar reason happens to be stress. This is neither an internal nor external factor, but is a psychological factor that you face in your daily life.

And its true that stress can take a severe toll on your skin’s health. Stress impacts the flow of hormones in your body, which in turn affects your skin texture, blood flow, and other health related factors.

Keep Off Stress

Here are simple ways to keep off with stress:

  • Fitness and exercise is a proven way to beat stress
  • Practice your hobby, no matter how busy you are.
  • Instead of sitting over things which worry you, listen to music, meet friends, do things which will divert you.
  • Stress management techniques like breathing exercises and yoga are much essential to manage your work stress or personal stress.
  • Eat right and get adequate sleep

Top 10 Useful Skincare Tips for Women

Here are top ten skin care tips for women.

  1. Always use ‘sun screen’ while going out in the sun. Sun block with SPF 30 is adequate in most Indian cities. Apply the sunscreen about 15 minutes before you step out and reapply every three hours.
  2. Maintain the moisture in your skin by using a good moisturizer. Apply every day, preferably twice, not just on your face but all over your body. Elbows, knees, feet and hands can get excessively dry, so you may apply more in those areas (or more often). You may use a water based moisturizer or one with tea tree or aloe vera ingredients for oily skin. Dry skin will require a thicker, oil based moisturiser.
  3. Remove the makeup and wash the face well before beginning a workout session, and/or before going to bed.
  4. Acne Busting is a strict No-No. Get this thing in your head right now! You prick them (acne or whiteheads) and it will surely cause skin damage and also leave behind blemishes. Get any spots on your skin treated by a beautician; do not touch them as they could spread on the face.
  5. Drink plenty of water to maintain the glow on your skin; it also keeps the body hydrated. In addition, make sure you have plenty of watermelon.
  6. Make sure your diet includes fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Have green vegetables and salads. Pack your meals with antioxidants. Avoid aerated drinks and alcohols.
  7. You have to Quit Smoking if you really want a glowing skin. Smoking causes skin pigmentation and even the existing spots become darker.
  8. Exfoliate: If you’re over 25 years old, your skin will need regular exfoliating to help improve the overall texture of your skin.
  9. Supplements: In addition to eating right, your skin will also benefit from a few essential supplements, such as a good multi-vitamin and Omega-3.
  10. Adequate Sleep – All other skin treatments will be a waste unless you get 8 hours sleep every night.
