  • Sattu, also known as Sattoo is eaten every day in states like Bihar, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, UP and West Bengal.
  • Legend has it that Sattu was Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s staple food, when he was engaged in a full-scale guerrilla warfare against the Mughals.
  • Sattu is rich in vegetarian protein, yet cheaper, compared to other sources. 100 grams of sattu provides close to 20 grams of protein (20% protein, which is not bad at all). In several households, 2 tsp of sattu is given to a child every day to help develop more muscle mass.
