Digital (Internet) Marketing: Top tips to promote your business online

If you own a fitness, sports, or wellness related business, digital marketing can help you attract more customers to your business. You could even offer digital marketing services to other businesses. To get traffic to your website, your marketing efforts should ideally combine different strategies for the best results.

Some of The best affiliate programs recommend that you have your own website and load it with good content, which makes it easier to convince the buyer about the usefulness of the product.

A website usually has information about the various features and benefits of the products or services that your company is offering, for potential customers.

These websites are essentially the same as brochures or mail order catalogs.

Here, we’ll discuss the various digital marketing methods and how they all come together to create an effective, worthwhile marketing campaign.

Search Engine Marketing

This means that a website is marketed through search engines by improving the ranking of the site through search engine optimization (SEO), pay per click (PPC) advertising, or pay for inclusion listings in directories.

This is similar to offline advertising that is done through listings in the yellow pages, or other means of advertisements.

Social Network Marketing

This method has gotten extremely popular in the last few years, and if done correctly & professionally, it can help your business tremendously.

From a sale perspective however, visitors from search engines are considered to be more targeted and convert well.

But then, Social Network Marketing helps to make your website popular, and does add to your sales.

FaceBook and Twitter are the two more common and hugely popular social networking websites (there are many more). LinkedIn is more popular with professionals but not with the general population; the opposite applies to MySpace.

Email Marketing

This distributes information about your products or services, or is used to get feedback from your customers about your products or services through your email.

Customers and prospective customers can supply their email addresses or you can choose to purchase email addresses through lists.

There are various email methods that are used, including newsletter distribution or mass mailings or even offering your customers special things related to your company’s products or services.

This is basically the same as direct mail advertising that is done offline.

Video Marketing

Using online video marketing is a strategy that many small business owners and internet marketers are beginning to embrace, to driving traffic to their web sites.

There are several advantages of using videos to promote your products & services. 

Google now displays search results from a number of different “media streams” on its main results page. So you may find a mix of videos, images and articles when you search for any given keyword.

Many of the techniques employed by SEO and Video Marketing are the same. Some of these are:

  • It needs keyword research so that you target high traffic / low competition keywords
  • The content needs to be compelling and provide value to the visitors
  • Needs similar off-page and on-page optimization strategies

 

Banner Advertising

It allows for the placement of advertisements on a website (the popular and authority ones) for a price. There are many providers that are offering banner advertisements on their sites.

It can be a very effective part of your internet marketing campaign and can increase your traffic.

Newspaper and magazine ads would be the offline comparison to banner advertisements.

Press Releases

A Press Release on the internet requires a story being written about a company, products, services, or website. These stories or articles must be newsworthy and very attention-getting.

If you are not attracting attention, you are not going to get traffic or sales to your website. There are many sites on the internet that are centered on press releases.

Blog Marketing

This is where you post comments, share your opinions, or make announcements on forums. This is usually done by adding comments and URLs in blogs that are related to your business and what you have to offer online.

Good Strategy

A good strategy to use is to have a mix of the various advertising methods, besides doing the regular SEO stuff. But if you have a tight budget, you can even focus on just some of these.

Another method is using pay-per-click, where you can have a small ad displayed on various websites, and be charged a certain fee each time a consumer clicks on the link. It’s essentially paying for traffic, but the traffic is targeted.

And when you get that traffic, you have to convert these first time browsers into buyers, and the best way to do that is to make sure that they see your product or services several times. One of the best methods to do that is by sending them emails through an opt-in list; this is the most effective form of internet marketing advertising — sending them very targeted ads.
